Changchun is the capital of Jilin Province in the northeastern part of the People’s Republic of China and one of the 15 sub-provincial cities of the country. It has about 3.4 million inhabitants in the city center and about 7.7 million in the entire city area. Changchun is one of the most important industrial cities in northern China. The city is home to steel mills and a variety of metal-processing businesses. In addition, approximately 660,000 VW vehicles are produced each year and 9,000 people are employed in the vehicle plants. A further stage of expansion is planned to become the largest Chinese car city.
